A Season of New Beginnings

New Residents, New Beginnings

In February and March, we joyfully opened our doors to two new residents at Admiral House. Both individuals were previously unhoused and are now beginning new chapters in a community that sees and supports them.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, they each received thoughtful welcome gifts—modest yet meaningful gestures of care. These moments reminded us just how powerful a warm welcome can be and inspired the launch of our newest initiative: the Welcome Closet.

The Welcome Closet is stocked with essentials like bedding, cookware, cleaning supplies, and comforting touches like candles and decor, all designed to help new residents feel truly at home from day one.

To keep it filled, we’re hosting a Spring Donation Drive from April 22 to May 22. Donations of new or gently used household items can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Sunday, at Plymouth Congregational Church, through the door in the parking garage.

Look for the blue boxes labeled “PHC” and call (206) 890-2329 if the door is locked. And for those who can’t make it in during regular hours, reach out to Dakota at dnixon@plyhc.org or (206) 707-2801 to arrange a pickup or an alternate drop-off time.

Stay tuned for a dedicated newsletter with more details about the drive soon!

Growing Wellness Plant Workshop at Argonaut

In March, residents at Argonaut House participated in a special workshop led by Rosemarie Cullinane of The Garden Hotline. They learned about the therapeutic benefits of indoor plants and how nurturing greenery can nurture the self, too.

Be sure to read the full blog we published on the workshop and its impact.

Volunteer Spotlight: Maseo & Audrey

Meet Maseo and Audrey: two of our newest food pantry volunteers who bring heart, humor, and a shared sense of purpose to their work.

Here's a bit about their experience:

What inspired you to start volunteering with PHC, and what keeps you coming back?

We were looking for a better way to spend our free time on the weekends and thought it would be a great idea to look into volunteering. When we saw the opportunity at PHC, we thought it was a great fit! Besides the fun we have volunteering together, what keeps us coming back is the privilege to serve our community.

What do you each do for work—or what keeps you busy these days outside of volunteering?

We are both Software Engineers. Outside of work and volunteering, Audrey keeps busy with arts and crafts and taking care of her cat, Rosy, and Maseo stays active in the gym and running, always training for his next race.

What hobbies or interests do you enjoy as a couple?

As a couple, we enjoy binging the latest shows, paddleboarding, playing chess, traveling, and solving puzzles.

What’s your favorite part about volunteering together?

Our favorite part of volunteering together is kicking off the weekend doing something meaningful that brings us together.

Is there a moment or experience from your time at the pantry that really stuck with you?

Seeing the amount of care and coordination that goes into the community resource network has been something that has really stuck with us. The donation pantry is always stocked, clean, and full of other friendly volunteers who are all working toward the same goal of helping out our local community. Being a part of the network and PHC has been such an honor.

We're Seeking New Board Members

Plymouth Healing Communities is seeking passionate, visionary leaders to join our Board of Directors.

We are especially looking for individuals with experience or interest in:

  • Social Services and Mental Health

  • Finance and Accounting

  • Legal Expertise

  • Commercial Real Estate & Housing Development

  • Fundraising and Resource Development

As a board member, you’ll have the unique opportunity to see first-hand the transformative power of healing—and be part of creating a community where everyone belongs and no one is left behind.

You’ll help shape bold new initiatives, expand access to dignified housing, strengthen our financial future, and invite others to support this life-changing mission.

If you believe in justice, belonging, and the power of human connection, this is your moment.
